Dill, California is a dry comedy about a one-day struggle in the life of an average guy, Runner Dell. As the film begins, we find Runner just about to break up with his longtime girlfriend, Evelyn. After a failed attempt to break things off at Evelyn's diner, Runner finds out from his best friend Shane that Evelyn is actualy expecting him to propose that evening. He spends the day seeking out advice from his friends, his grandfather, his brother, even his estranged father with whom he hasn't spoken to in years.
Meanwhile, the town is getting ready for a local play about the town and their history, "American Dill." A visit from an ex-girlfriend stirs things up, as do the many colorful characters, all "one step away" from greatness, that are all part of the flavor of this town. An original soundtrack accompanies this directorial debut, a film that tells a story while creating memorable characters and a distinct sense of place along the way.
